Daveo my comment was intended to be humorous/sarcastic towards the manufacturer. It looks like the apprentice set the machine for your initial purchase (I can't believe the internet isn't full of horror stories if they are churning them all out like the ones you received)  !!

Thanks Wook, ditto that assessment!

Your comment encouraged me to face this squarely, rather than attempt to wash my hands of such a wonderful KZ adventure...

Sadly, few are able to understand, or care to comprehend.

Fired right up, sync was very close, ran with varied throttle for 5 minutes, and went for a short 35 mile ride.

Cleaned and reused spark plug color/psi compression after one ride.  Using 90 octane no-ethanol fuel.

20 pilot, 125 main, .08 air jets, clips in 3rd slot.  Fuel screws 1/8-1/4 out.

Baffle was clean when the motor was started, and the pistons were dry when I checked the compression.

It sounds like all your time, energy, $$ and learned and pre-known knowledge is paying off. Was that not an interesting experience? Please keep us informed on your continued experience.
Damn fine job.

She loves being treated like a lady.

Had a second 35 mile ride today that would have been longer, but when the tach went wacky ass bonkers we scooted back home.

Before the ride I changed the spark plugs from Denso W27ES-U to W24ES-U (hotter!)
Also installed 122.5 main,  and .09 air jets.

This time I adjusted the fuel screws using a Gunson Color Tune.

Seems a favorable result

Changed the oil and filter yesterday after accumulating 340 miles.

BTW, she runs fantastic, and the intake valves miss the pistons now...

Denso W27ES-U

Liked the Driven BR40 break-in oil, and the drain plug picked up a pile of fine metal shavings.

The motor now has  Mobil 1 4T 10W-40 Racing Oil installed.

Excellent oil choices!  Both that you are using are excellent!
