Awesome suggestion!!!
The machining process went well, and the pistons just need to be smoothed out and cleaned up...

Make sure you radius the sharp edge of the pockets to avoid “hot spots” causing pre-ignition issues. Where there’s a will there’s a way

Yes! The flat area was lightly skimmed to blend better with the new pocket radius.

Sweet "finalizing" Daveo!! Now you need to call up Wiseco or parent company and sell them the rights!

The edges and transition points need additional softening and blending...
🙂
Based on my experience, valve pocket modification is required to run a Wiseco K1172 piston kit in a 1983-85 ZN1100B LTD or ZX1100 engine fitted with 12044-1057 (stock ZX1100A) camshafts, and the 13001-5011 piston shown left side (modified K1172 right) in the image below:

These pistons have been through a lot.

These two piston kits are designed to fit the same motor, but the K1173 4380M07500 valve pocket appears closer to the piston edge...much like the K1172 piston after necessary pocket modification to clear the valve:

The outer valve pocket edges are manufactured 62mm apart for both K1172 and K1173 pistons.
However, the taller K1172 piston crown most likely contributed to the valve interaction that has captivated my attention for the past two-plus months.
I assume the compression ratio is no longer 10.25:1 after 1.05 +/- cubic centimeter of material was removed from each piston crown...
Probably around 10:1 now
🙂
