I think I read somewhere that all the stock ones are brass, but some of them are (zinc-??) plated - they'll be the ones you've had.
The earliest versions were chrome plated brass. I think that went away in 1977, though.

Choke plungers? I have only seen brass. Slides I have seen chrome.

Yes, choke plungers. They are silver colored, but non magnetic. Zed confirmed that they are chrome plated brass.

Slides are all aluminum. Anodized either gold or silver. No chrome plated VM slides. Maybe some other brands, though.

Well I’ll be, thank you, I have not seen chrome plated plungers. Yes I knew there were different colored slides, I misspoke on their finish. My dad always said “ If ya ain’t carful you’ll learn something new everyday ”.

It's about 5°C out in the carport so it was slow going with the spray gun. I got through it without any major incidents - just a bit of pooling on the back of one of the discs. Pretty sure you'll need a torch to see it when the discs are back on the bike.
Still waiting for them to dry enough take the masking off:

Have been working on the brakes - no pictures though as the light in the garage has been bad. I have pretty much sworn off powder coating after all of the sanding I have had to do to get things to fit. The last bit was on the brake caliper mounts. The pads didn't fit in the cutout so the coating had to go. I'm a bit worried it might rust now - although it should get coated in brake dust pretty quickly which might protect it. I guess I'll pull them apart next winter and see how they look after a season.
