there's no sense in complaining about it. just another example of placing a tax burden on the millions of little guys while giving cheering tax breaks to a small number of large corporations. that's the way america works. there's nothing anyone here can do about it.  just accept it.

To be fair, there have always been tariffs, and big corporations pay them as part of normal business.  The work-around that many foreign sellers employed was to keep transaction costs under the De minimis $800 limit.  Many foreign sellers used to break up shipments to the US into $800 package sizes, to skirt the tariff's.  Those days are over.

And speaking of tariff's, Trump's tariffs have been declared illegal, however, they have been left in effect, pending appeal to the US Supreme Court.  Setting tariffs is the domain of Congress, not the president, thus the snafu.  The stock market is worried that the US may have to pay back the tariff money already collected, as reflected in the bond market.  I'm not smart enough to understand all this stuff, but clearly, it's been, and still is, a huge mess.

Many companies haven't figured out the logistics yet.  You may or may not be hit with some extra fees.  It's going to take some time before logistics are figured out, and at that point, we can expect prices to shoot up.

That figures, crap. Does anyone have a clue, or place to look, what additional amount might i be looking foreword to?

From what I here over on this side (Canada) you could be charged up to $200 on that $800 threshold (25%) BTW this free under $800 has been in effect for almost 100 years.

People are trying to figure away around this by shipping as a gift but the Government will try to shut that down every which way. The post office here says they will only ship gifts to residential addresses and they can easily search out if there is a business involved online very quickly.

There are still some vendors in the USA that refuse to ship to Canada because of our stricter import laws/taxes. In the future you may see this happening in reverse for all other counties refusing to ship to the USA because of these import fees.

No one wants to pay more especially if its going into the Governments hands.

I would expect buying from Europe will be difficult for you boys moving forward. Some EU suppliers refuse to ship to the UK since Brexit because it's too much hassle with the customs paperwork etc (and our taxes/duties don't keep changing !!!!!!)

This might be useful: it's a listing of the tariff rates by country

www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5ypxnnyg7jo

I was looking at a seat from a seller in Vietnam. It's already $200 for the item + $100 in tax and shipping; I'm not paying another $40 on top of that.

Clay I know the vendor is in Canada but do you know where the parts are made ? my understanding is the duties will be based on "country of origin" which the vender may need to declare on the customs documents ????

Ain't that the truth, I just received some Wiseco rings from an EU supplier - invoice states VAT not applied but the shipper never asked for any additional monies :):)

Not going to feather the progression of political abatement and/or results till i personally see the results. See Wookie, keeping the thread Clean without unnecessary clutter, like the ole days of news just commentary. No Flair.
