well I'm impressed. Any of you guys build entire frames from scratch? Seems like you're not too far from that now.

I was actually thinking about just such a project. Trellis frame kinda like a bimota, with a set of porchev914's carbon fiber body work. At least the sidecovers and tail. Not sure how a stock tank would work with a trellis frame, but who knows. It just an idea to consider while i blow the froth off a cold one. Gonna need to get that tig welder before I try that trick.

Trellis frames are bad ass. Harris makes one for the KZ so the one your buddy has is probally a Harris.
Ya I'm going to run a 240 rear. I know it's a little big but, It's still rideable. No jackshaft on the arm, I'm going to run the chain on the outside of the frame and have an outboard bearing support tied into the frame so I will still be able to thrash on it. I must add that I was very lucky. I ask IRISHWILL if he would mind giving me the cad layout for the sprocket cover bolt hole locations and he did, So that was very cool it saved me a lot of time measuring out a stock cover. I will do some changes to it because it was meant for a stock wheel and tire setup not for a 240. I should have my wheels in by the end of this week.

outside the frame is probably the best choice(in my humble opinion)less crap to mess with/up.
this should be a headturner when you get done.
irishwill(ben)is a stand up dude not surprised that he helped you out.
keep us posted,
leon

Been under the gun this week with other jobs so not much has been done on the old girl, I did manage to get a little drawing and some measurments done for my out side drive, but that is about it as far as any work on it.
I did get my wheels, I was going to go with the PM Heathen contrast cut but when I seen the the PM Luxe Contrast Cut Platinum Finish I was sold. A lot of bikes around my area have the Heathen (sportbikes) so I thought the Luxe would be a little different.
With any luck I will be able to get some more work done this week but my time is thin, I am helping my son build a mini truck plus my other work makes it tough.

I hear ya about not wanting to be just like the sportbike crowd. Even so they generally change styles and crash bikes so often that 6 months from now you probably won't see those wheels any more.
BTW I think those wheels are a nice choice as well. I just didn't personally care for the twisted spokes on that other wheel that you showed.
Keep going at your own pace. I know how life gets in the way of bike building.
