I can see where your concern would be OMR; just looking at it, it seems it may not be braced well enough yet. At the same time, the mount design is identical to a stock sportbike shock mount with the exception of the lever being longer which is what I think you're concerned about. Also a consideration are rslingshots mount thicknesses- they are signifigantly thicker and wider than most of use are using, giving them much increased flexural/torsional/tensile strength. That said, I was more cautious in my design like OMR was and braced the hell out of my shock mount

Without a doubt I need to brace the top shock mounts. I will make some gussets out of 3/16 plate. The bottom one I will tie into the lower frame rail also with a flat plate. As far as the electronics haven't got that far yet, but I don't see any major problems (I hope)
Hmmm... I don't know about those upper mono brackets being enough guys... One good jolt (road pot hole) and you'll know for sure....
"T" cross member with vertical support to top mount...
I went through the same debate... Went with additional support and I've had no issues... Nor have I had a shock rammed up my booty.... :S
Ugly, possibly... Have to relocate electrical panel and electronics including battery cage, Yup but strong as hell... No booty shock :woohoo:
3 Axis Support...

Very observant! I still need to cut the top of the subframe off and make mounts so the subframe will be removable

Been a little lazy the last few days, but I got some work done today.
I made some gussets from 3/16 flate plate and braced the monoshock mount, finished relocating all the side cover mounts and started capping the frame where the subframe use to mount. I like the look that it has now with the new subframe,it looks more up to date (I think).

Started building my swingarm today. The material is 6061 t6 extruded aluminum 1.625 X 3.250 with a .188 wall with a center rib and a .375 outside corner rad. I am going to use Hayabusa bearings in the pivot tube and make some bronze bushings to fit the axle, the reason for this is I have many sets of Busa bearings and most of my jig fixtures are set up for Busa's or GSX-R 1000's, it makes life easyer.
Started with the pivot tube 2.00 o.d .375 wall, quick skim cut and bore the bearing holes.
Then the swingarm sides, ruff cut the length, layout taper cut,cut them out preheat and weld them back up.
The key to a good aluminum weld is clean clean clean. I always preheat aluminum when welding it keeps you from having cold starts and cracking. Once you found that sweet spot lock it in and rock and roll. You can tell the difference between the left leg and the right one, the left one is off but once you get it dialed in your good to go.
If I dont get too busy tomorrow I will try to get the ends of the arm cut and make some fixtures for my jig, I don't have any for a 240 arm.
I have to say that I am in no way saying this is the only way to build a swingarm. That is not my intention, there are a lot of ways to do something this is just my way. If you can get an idea or you have an idea good let me know, again this is just the way I DO IT!. If you are or somebody you know is building a swingarm be real sure its right because bad things happen when stuff breaks at 100mph.

well I'm impressed. Any of you guys build entire frames from scratch? Seems like you're not too far from that now.
