Hey guy, I need help wiring a new ignition. It’s an emgo ignition switch. I know it may burn out eventually but it’s stupid cheap. My plan was to get rid of the old ignition entirely. And to wire in the new one. The old ignition has 7 wires and the new one has only 3.:S I’ll give some pics but I was curious as to how to wire it up. The wiring diagram they gave me it’s very informative. So any help would get this on the road soon.

Thanks!

Does anyone know if a similar ignition the is the exact or smaller dimensions? It’s already a tight fit.

Have to ask.
You say you want to get rid of the old ignition entirely, you talk about the ignition switch only?
I relocated my ignition switch under the tank with the stock wiring. Made a new bracket and bolt on.

Yes, sounds like what I mean. I would like to get rid of the old stock ignite switch and use the emgo ignition switch. I’ll get a better photo when I get back from work later today. But yes, out with the old in with the new. Or I guess my question is how do I wire in the new ignition? It has 3 wires. Accessories, Off and ignition. The old one has 6+ a brown wire. I’ll get photos later.

Thanks!

There's probably a simplified ignition switch in one of the bare bones wiring diagrams by loudhvx. There's a 750M Twin on pg 11 w reconfigured ign switch.

Simplified wiring diagrams. KZR topic by loudhvx. bare bones for mattylight.
see pages 11-21. some of the diagrams are no longer there (pgs. 1-10). But from pg 11-on many are still available.

Thanks Martin. That diagram is a reconfigured factory switch. The op in this thread will need to post some photo or diagram or even a rudimentary description of the switch in order to describe how to wire it.

Are the three wires the same color? Do they have any labels? Are there any stampings or indicators on the switch as to which one is common, ign, or acc? Does the switch have a start position (prob not)? Is the acc position before or after off? Does he want to be able to run with lights off? What is the air speed of an unladen swallow?

He didn't say what ignition switch he got & I couldn't find anything at Z1Enterprises.
Was guessing there might be a simple ign switch in one of your simplified wiring diagrams, other than the one mentioned.

Okay y’all, I finally got some good photos.

So here is the original factory switch. It has 6 wires plus a brown wire. And if you take the bottom off I see these letters.

The new switch I’d like to integrate into the system has 3 connections.

My wish is to remove the original switch and replace it with this new one. How do I consolidate the 6+1 wires into 3? Is that possible? Thanks!

Can anyone tell me what does the label on the back mean?

IG1
IG2
B1
B2
TL1
TL2
TL3
And that 7 wires that is brown

Maybe these will help me wire in the new switch which has 3 contacts. Ignition - Accessory - Battery
