I would trust z1e. They have built a good reputation in this sphere and I have purchased from them before and had a great experience. If you have any questions about anything, they have good customer service.

If you have replaced the throttle cable recently with a new one, the cable may not be letting the butterfly valves close all the way.
That happened to me.
Old cable back on (only one cable on my '83 1000) and all was fine.

The new Motion Pro cable's inner cable was too short compared to the outer sheath.
I tried cutting some of the outter sheath off, but nicked the inner cable.

Got my intake boots. The ones I got only have a raised ridge around the hole at the inlet. Should apply a small amount of RTV

No.  Most RTVs don't hold up to gasoline anyway.

Well I am out of clues. New carb to engine boots. New carb to airbox boots. All vacuum ports blocked. Cleaned/dipped carbs. Blew out all passages. Cleaned all jets/ Bench synced all 4.
starts right up. REVS TO 6k !!!  Any ideas on what to try next besides a FOR SALE sign?

Can you post a photo showing the throttle butterfly position at idle?  

When you twist the throttle to full and let go, do the butterflies snap shut with a thud?

Have you tried disconnecting the throttle cable completely and then starting the engine?

The choke should allow it to start, and if it runs properly you'll know the cable is the culprit.

I'm not sure how I can take a photo of the butterflies with everything installed. I can tell you that when I let go of the throttle it does thud shut.
Watching the shafts and the linkage for syncing when I twist the throttle that shafts turn approximately 90 degrees and then snap back.

Yes I have unhooked the throttle cable and it still gives me a 6K idle.
I'm taking that my problem is something unique.
