Idle is out of control

Just finished rebuilding my rack of cv 32 carbs. Put them back on the engine. after a few burps and bangs it fired off.
It fired and immediately revved to 6k.I screwed the idle adjust screw almost all the way out. I fired it up and once again
it revved to 6k.Loosened the throttle cable from its mount. Still 6k.
What should I do next???

Did you bench sync the carbs at all?  Could be out of adjustment and one butterfly is almost closed and holding the rest open too far?

Bench synced the full rack. All seemed correct at the time of installation.

Make sure that the throttle snaps shut and isnt hitting anything. Most of the time a carb holder clamp is positioned where the bolt stops the throttle assembly from fully closing.

Are the vacum ports capped ?
 

Vacuum leak.  If the rubber carb boots are original, they could be deteriorated and cracked.

I know you are a carb man. I didn't realize a vacuum leak would make the idle run high. I just thought a vacuum leak would cause it to run rough.
Yes the boots are the original. Guess thats my next step

Checked the clamps. They were not in the way but that was a good call.

All ports are capped off.

If the vacuum caps are as old as the carb holders, you will want to replace them, too. A quick inspection of the vacuum hoses is also in order.

I should have stated that all vacuum ports are capped with new caps. Taking Nessisms advice I just ordered new carb holders from Z1.

When the carbs are off hold them up to the light and ensure all throttle flaps are closing fully

So I took the carb holder/intake boots off this afternoon and made an observation. Out of the eight screws only two were
relatively tight. The others were a bit more than finger tight. All the gaskets were in several pieces. Inspecting the boots,
there are no obvious holes or cracks.Since I have more time than money, this weekend I am going to make some new gaskets.
Tightly screw on the boots. Mount the carbs. AND.................You just never know!

The original rubber carb boots don't use gaskets.  There is a raised lip on the rubber boot that acts as the seal.  If there are gaskets, that means that someone applied a band-aid fix, that didn't last.  And speaking of the boots, the aftermarket options range from decent to junk.  Kawasaki still sells the OEM parts, which are more money, but worth it for peace of mind (my opinion)
