It makes total and sense that the choke plungers could be an issue and should be renewed now that I see and understand how they work. I’m not a member here long but I sure do appreciate the help and info I’ve gathered. I would’ve never thought to have the plungers be in the mix of things. Mega thanks to Zed1015. So my plan of attack here is to get the choke plungers back from Zed, put it all together and ride it. See what kind of changes that makes to the low end. From there I’ll start on the Dyna install based on what the results are from the plungers. I have a strong feeling the new plungers will clean things up on the bottom end. One step at a time, right? And to be clear, this bike runs very strong and never stalls out once warmed up.

I just have to say thank you to all the help here. Invaluable. Great forum!

Yes always best to correct one thing at a time. Helps later on also if the problem comes back. If you changed 3 things and fixed the problem, then if it comes back which of those 3 things was/wasn’t the fix.

Collectively there is a wealth of knowledge here and all are willing is share. Without prejudice!

One of the clips that holds the plungers on broke when I was taking it apart. Does anyone know what exact size those are? I’m having a hard time finding anything that small locally. Best as I can tell, it seems to be right around 3mm but depends on how you measure it.

I think it goes by the OD of the shaft. Or use the knive edge of you caliper and measure the OD of the grove.

Here’s the part number. Im sure it couple be found on evilbay.

You may also want to check the fuel level using the "clear tube" method.  If the fuel level is high, that may be contributing to the rich condition.

Hello everyone, I have not yet synchronized my RS34s. What would be the symptom of incorrect synchronization? I bought some vacuum gauges, but they are of low quality.

Choke plunger c-clip

Thanks buddy. I didnt even think to check via the part number. PZ by the way says not available. No worries, that eBay one is fine. Actually there are 4 available in the UK, so Zed said get them to him and he’ll send them back with my plungers.

MLMG, that’s pretty much the same kit I bought but sent it back. I did use the hoses though and just did 1 at a time plugging off 3 with golf tees. I had a good quality gauge in my toolbox so I knew it was accurate. A little more of a pain that way but I found that I had to shut down the motor often because it would get a little to hot.

One little tip though is that 1and 4, 2 and 3 react together so say if cylinder 1 is at 12 and 4 is at 8, adjust cylinder 1 to 10 inches vac and 4 should be pretty close. Hope I’m saying that right.

I use a box type window fan in front of the bike to get some air moving while setting the carbs.
