Gunson Color Tune AVI Clip....

What I've come across as far in obtaining the best results are as follows....

NOTE: This is for my Keihin CR specials, will be slightly different for your carbs.

Step 1:
Start with 1 turn out on your pilots, idle @ 1000rpm.
CCW pilot out (Leaner) till turns bunson blue. Note the the number of turns where you'll hear an increase of rpm...

NOTE: Now I have a better understanding when guys say they tune by ear... With this tool, you get to see the change and hear it as well


At which point, turn back where it runs predominantly yellow then add the halfway point between the two settings.

Pre 1985 setups, you want just slightly rich over lean setups.

Step 2:
Not a rapid twist of the throttle but slow twist where it should stay light blue throughout the 1000-3000rpm range.

Adjust pilots accordingly....

NOTE: As mentioned, I had the other two steps set accordingly but hadn't known of this step. In discussions with Larry C and Plummen, I informed of this new found find & what a difference it made in throttle response on the road..... they both replied,

"Well ya, DUH"..... :laugh:

Step 3:
With a good twist of the throttle, she should go from blue to yellow then back to blue....

Can't get more easier than that guys....
