I've got one that I've had for years Tony - used it mostly for SU carbs
on Rovers and Jag XKE's in the past. It needs a 12 mm adapter but I'll
send it over to you to borrow.

I'll let you know when I need it. I've seen a few bikes out so it won't be long now.

Got my NOS colortune today and it's awesome!:woohoo: I could only try it out on my KL250 since my KZ's are apart, but it worked great.

The coolest part? I got a sticker with it too!

I have found so far anyways, the best pilot setting is just where it goes from yellow to blue flame, more Blue than yellow.

Hit the throttle and it should be more yellow than blue...

I'm on Long Island, NY for a week so I just ordered my Colortune now.

The race is on. Let's see if it gets here in time from CA.

Is this only good for checking mixture at idle or can it be used throughout the range?

Can I check to see if my main jets are correct by running at WOT with this tool?



This could save me the hassle of repeated plug chops....

Not sure if that would be sufficient due to not running under load conditions for optimum results... And since only doing one carb at a time, unless you had 4 of these tuners, have no idea in the results, hmmm, unknown...

Same time, may put you close for initial jet settings which may eliminate a whole number of runs, jet tweaking, run, tweaking etc....

All I can tell you is this in using the product... Made my life a hell of a lot easier in tweaking the carb pilots in and ready for the final synching with gauges.

In review of the clips I provided, you can hear the difference between the stages in the clips. First start idles & runs rough, missing, erratic idle... Then gunson then Morgan unit... She now starts with one push of the starter button and idles/purrs at 900rpm like a kitten....

For those of you that can do it by ear, I envy you (seriously) for I just don't have that type of experience to do so accurately with confidence nor for desired optimum performance.

Big delivery from California... received my 14mm Gunson Colortune this morning at my Holiday Inn in NY just in time for my flight home to Montreal. :woohoo:

I am now the proud owner of this season's new KZ toy... I mean essential tool.

Please keep notes/images/avi of Pre - Post findings such as found it originally lean/rich, tweaked her now idles smoother, better response, plugs now brown etc....

If you test/adjust the jetting using this tool, please provide your procedure & results... That would be awesome!
