A little update....
Still waiting for the Morgan to arrive so used the gauges for a rough carb synch.... Had to back out the Throttle valves in each carb to get the idle set screw to reach the back plate...
I have the pilots backed out 1.5 turns to lean her out a little...
All in all, pretty close but I want her dead nuts on....
Still have considerable tuning yet but we're getting there....

Hey TB... "so you had one a tooth out did you"
No, actually the tooth count was good, it was just miss aligned in my last CAM degree and I didn't pay attention well enough () to notice the lobe orientations after a couple rotations....
Plummen and I where talking about this on the phone and the one thing that comes to mind on where I screwed up is as follows...
After dialing in the cams, I degree'd in both cams. With the intake cam, I Inserted the two cams sprocket bolts with loctite & torqued down 11-12 ft lbs. On the remaining cam sprocket bolt that I was using for the degreeing process, I removed & added loctite. In torquing this bolt down, It freaking SNAPPED on me!
Oh yeah, wasn't a happy camper!!!! Plummen had a good chuckle on that one.... Guess what he said... "Well, WTF did you do that one for dumbph..."
With that in mind, take it all apart to remove (cobalt drill and easy out) the snapped bolt thread...
Now here's where I think I screwy uppy!
One bolt at a time, loctite and replace out of engine...
I felt that would be good, inserted all back in engine, torqued all the bolts, checked my 28 tooth count, all looked good... Bolt on the valve cover good right!....
WRONG!!!!
I should have re-checked both cams for degree accuracies, cam chain being taught, as well as the lobe timing etc... My lazy ass just didn't think, no doubt about it... My bad.... DUH!
Oh well, learn the hard way I guess, why change now....

But she's all good now, dead nuts on 105 lobe centers and idling... Once the carb tuning is completed, I'll put together a little write up tutorial on setup & tuning the Keihin CR Specials for others to use if they choose... Getting close mi amigo....

@ Mark: Not sure were the idle will end up quite yet... In the synching procedure ~ 1500 is about it without bogging down.... Granted pending the adjustments where one carb effects the other so 1500rpm for setting is the way that has been mentioned, maybe even higher.
I relaize your setup is different but where is your idle set at?
Anyone with the Keihin 29mm, idle settings?
Again, I realize motor, cams, carbs, filtering, timings etc... all take play in this but just some ideas of where your 29mm carbs idles are set at would be a good topic...
TB..... Your a sick individual hahahahahha
If you wish, I can do a disgusting say 20 Hail Mary's versions just for you.... I'll even throw in a couple of images with Steve & Plummen cracking a smile for you..... Guess which body part!
Oh here we go... Hail Mary full of grace SHALLOW be thy name .........
I'm sorry oh mighty KZ Mod's please forgive my humble self......

Just a little update... Found another neat little toy that has been ordered.... Gunson Color-Tune Air/gas (pilot adjustments) tuner.
I'll keep you posted... Should have both tools shortly for dialed in (dead on the nuts) for the pilots and carb synching....
Presently she starts quickly, idles @ 1000rpm nicely... But as previously stated, close enough or in the ball park just doesn't work for me...
She must and will be dialed in to the tee....
Another reason I see this as a very useful tool is as follows... In speaking in other forums, bike mechanics who actually use this tool have informed me this has saved them a whole slew of time regarding jetting!
Meaning previously, they would be close but have to screw around with the jetting to compensate the air/gas mix, smaller/larger jets..... Now in using this tool, it's dead on and in most cases such as with the Keihin's, they come pre-jetted so maybe just a jet notch adjustment, a slight tweak here or there and whola, dialed in....

I'm looking to get one of those too. I saw it mentioned in the WG thread and did some research on it. I had never heard of it but it sure seems worth the money to get a more precise adjustment. Hurry up and use that thing so you can report to us on how well it works!

You cheap sonsabitches.... Waiting for me to buy it and test/provide results back for you... hahahahaha....
You guys are killin me.....
Actually, I'm hoping to take some mages & possibly AVI recording of pre & post flames through the view port. Probably won't be very good resolution but if I can pull it off I will post & provide back....
In reading the procedure and theory of the application, makes perfect sense where effiency & optimum performance will be obtained.... Rather easily once you think about it.... Way cool!
It's in route so should have within the next 4 days or so....
I'll add this to my planned Keihin CR Special Installation and Adjustment guide I'll be doing once completed....
As stated previously, I do these tut's for one main reason, since others have shared their knowledge, guided and educated me in theory of the applied science as well on hands on tips & tricks etc... there's only way I can repay their generousity and patinence...
By putting all my notes, experiences, Oh Shits and home runs on paper to share with others in an easy manner to understand and accomplish the task at hand...
