Today 17:29Thanks for all the considerations everyone. At this point I'm just trying to justify the purchase. Is everything in the photos worth the $100 (that may be subjective) and is it possible to "get my money back" by reselling the parts listed in the pictures? Just a lot of thinking to be done considering the alternate routes. The main thing right now is I'm not sure if my parents would be supportive of this decision since I already have two bikes in their garage
Most definitely. The bodywork isn't terribly visible in the pics, but those pieces (in good shape) should get you more than $100 - ditto for the Kerker exhaust.
If you have a swap meet event nearby during the summer, you can sell stuff without using eBay.
One thing I did for a project was buy a basket case 440B (same condition as your 550) and then found a 440B rolling frame with a clear title - boom, street-legal frankenbike project.
