Just a bit of common sense of which I certainly lack. Dont take
your girl to work on the KZ for her Birthday!

The weekend was a bust got an hour in on the bike before my
bad choice of things to do on your girls birthday hit me. Spent
the rest of the day and yeaterday making up for it.

However I was able to sneak a few things in. dropped my Exhaust collars in a
can filled with CLR and it did a nice job. but would rather have a new set

The rust is gone but you cant polish chrome thats not there

My ex-father inlaw is having triple bypass surgery tomorrow so I will
be watching the grand kids next day or so they will be helping their grandpa
with his KZ build lol

gonna work on my taillight bracket later today and hopefully have a solid design
that will work

It never fails I will only work a couple days this week and I am still waiting
on parts so my down time will be spent cleaning and repolishing and waiting

got about 3 hours in today made a removable bracket for the taillight

Attachment IMG_362901.JPG not found

still using the generic license plate mount

I am almost embarrassed to tell you guys I had it screwed through the bottom of
the tail fin before

When I pulled it apart I noticed the back tire got in to the wires at some point
I am lucky my tail light still worked.

I went ahead and cut a piece of thin wall tubing length wise welded it in place
for the wiring, I have it wired to the factory tailight plug so I can remove it

thats why I didnt runn the woring through the frame. I like the service ability
of being able to remove the assembley wothout cutting wires

was lucky to get that much done with everything going on

Went to work for a couple hours and got to work on the bike today pretty
pleased with the progress took a few pic's of my taillight bracket

It is designed to fit between the tail and the bike

overall I am happy with it I think I am gonna make a vibration damper
because it is mounted against the rubber tail grommets
I can remove the tail light lense the way it sits now

Finished the fuse panel I was concerned with the routing of the main power
wire but I think I have that resolved

I found the reason the PO rewired it to begin with.
he had removed the headlight fuse and wired the Headlight to the 12V switched.
because it would blow fuses I assume.

When I installed the Headlight I used the same wiring. I didn't care I was just
wanted to ride.

Anyway you guessed it after rewiring the headligh correctly I was blowing fuses.
After careful instectin of the dimmer switch on th Hbar I saw a small rub through
in the high beam wire, repaired it and now I have a fullyfunctional fuse Panel
and headlight

Got my offset measured so I can finally send my sprockets off
still going with a best guess but at least I have another opinion lol

On that taillight bracket, make sure to put some form of vibration dampening on there. You might think about putting some form of gussets on there as well. My first bracket was built out of 1/8" plate about the same way yours is and the vibration got to it after about 2000 miles. It broke off on me going down the road one day. It did have a little more weight on it though. My remote nitrogen reservoir for the rear shock is strapped to my combo taillight/license bracket.

So Close and yet so far away. I am still waiting on my reqrasets
the guy isnt answering his emails now go figure.

I decided to take it back apart for a good cleaning gonna repolish the
huge gouges and scratches I put on the swingarm and paint the ends of it

Attachment 100_2366.JPG not found

Need to do al all over cleaning while I wait on the front sprocket and
my finishing parts. Took my girl with me hoping she would attack the
dirt. It didn't happen

I'm gonna try a seat mod once I get the donor seat. Getting laid off has
slowed my progress somewhat. Why is it when you get time you dont have the
funds? It's a reallt mean trick give mme decent weather and time off with
no money

the 5/8's offset is going to cause your chain to rub the frame(probably).

so you have a few options of re-gaining some clearance.

either heat it and use c-clamps to squash the inside of the tube or do like the sanctaury guy's do and cut it out and weld notches back into the frame.

if i put the spocket on the shaft put the nut on about hakf a round line the chain up I have about 5/8 from the case to the inside of the sprocket. the lip on the shaft is about 1/8" so I figured it's actually 1/2 or 13mm to inside of sprocket or 5/8 to center of sprocket

At that with the 520 chain it seems like i have decent clearance but i as I sit here and write this my actual measurement should be 1/2" I am thinking

I have less clearance between mt tire and chain that shinko is wide!

It's only money right? Oh wait my girls reminded me I donr have any ok 13mm it is lol
