If I remember correctly I used 03/04 ZX6 rearset for the brake and the master cylinder bolted up to the kz master cylinder mount, same hole spacing, just had to make spacers for side to side.
Thought that might help.
Your welding doesn't look that bad! From what I can tell it looks good, flux core always looks dirty till you clean the flux off but its a pretty good weld.

thanks les appreciate the comments I might want to wait, I was about to hit the buy it now on a fzr rearset lol

I know it sounds silly but I like the thought of keeping Kawasaki parts for the mod even though I use alot of repro and aftermarket parts

Keeping the all Kawasaki parts was first and foremost in my Z1R build, besides as you said the aftermarket parts. Don't know if it was coincidental or not but like the bolt pattern on the master cylinder, the fairing mounts had the same spacing as the ZX6 forks. I'm wanting to do an old GS1150 and I will do the same thing with it, all Suzuki parts.

Took the day off today, spent the morning running then
got a couple hours on my bike.

Today I wanted to figure out my battery placement build
a battery box. Not gonna cut the original up,

I remembered my camera today but you know how it is limited
time you get on a roll, you dont slow down and click pics

This spot behingd the engine in front of the shock is
the best (only)place

Attachment 100_2069.JPG not found

I had cut the inside of the mastercylinder mount off
earlier but that tab would be great had I have thought
it out.

so dont look at the welds I cut the tab off of the cutoff
piece and tacked it into place.

I bought 3/4" and 1" stock this morning, so going off the
battery I measured and cut my pieces. wisj I had a brake
or a tig would have loved aluminum.

didnt get any pic's of the box during the fab work was on a roll
my girl gets off at 1 clock and it's already 11.

well it's not pretty but it fits

the battery box is mounted with bushings so I went ahead and used
the bushings from my old box drillend my holes and walla

absoulutely have alot of finish work to do to perty
it up but I am a step closer.

trying to come up with the electrical panel and side
cover mount. servicabilty is important and really easy to
weld yourself into a corner

I am thinking to weld a couple 1" wide tabs to the frame
and then make my panel removable

I have strugled with thr tab theory went ahead and cut a down stem
for the electrical box. made it long enough to put the sidecover
tab on it

Attachment 100_2081.JPG not found

thinking another brace across the v in the frame with
2inch wide stock. seems a little over kill after seeing how
OMR has his

if i use my tab theory then i can bolt the upside down T to
the v section incase I need to remove all of it.

Appreciate any input on this matter, i just used a magnet to
hold the above pic in place until I solve my delimma will
post some more pic's tomorrow when I get it figured out

Kind of hard to make much progress 4 hours at a time.

Ok I have worried about front to back or back to front flex in this Tbone design for the upper shock mount since I welded it in I think I should add another brace or 2 from the rear

I think a single bar from the center will work but as I sit here maybe 1 from each side
anyone thik I am over engineering?

Attachment 100_208102.JPG not found

obviously the red sketch to reduce the flex or breakage
from frame twisting or mega pothole

i have been thinking all along that you need to tie it in closer to the cradle.

like the red i added to your pic.

if you run the tubes like you have shown that still leaves the whole front of the seat area un braced.
which could be fine but then you need to tie it all together at the front.these old bikes are built with plumbers pipe as wireman says.
