Ok not they are I have no clue why any way I wanted to say Irishwills busa is a work of art, and I heve second thoughts about doing this build at my daughters house I would be more confident If I ahd done it at my brothers garage his experience and enomous resources would be a great bnefit right now

My girl has been layed up sick and I have been able to work a couple hours
today so not much accomplished I played with seat designs yesterday

Got a suprise today my girl had 40.00 bucks laying on my laptop in a card
that said "Rear Brake Line Fund" when I got home so you know I ordered a new
one.

My seat dellima is that The LTD Seat is too big the stock seat is well...
not very sexy. I have liked the look of the ZX seats but up close they dont fit
the frame very well and I want my seat to use the factory pins and lock.

I ordered a donor seat 24.00 bucks shipped to the house. compared the foam
with the stock seat

The foam is almost wide enough if I can make it fit the stock pan without
destroying it that would be the ticket

The ZX pan is flat and plastic very little contour
my original thought was to cut the ZX pan to fit the KZ but even after getting
to sit as good as possible didnt like it

I may end up with a new cover for my stock seat but I gotta try this

I could make it work but I really want it serviceable and to look like it
is supposed to be there

Making the foam fit the factory pan will be my best look and serviceable
...I hope!

I grabbed a steak knife and a grinding wheel for the drill one of those rust
removers I bought that didnt work for what I needed (I built a home bar once wtih
a steak knife and picture hanging nails but that was in another life lol)

I contoured the ZX foam as close as I could to the stock pan


it halfass fits but the front contour isn't gonna fit like it is
but we already knew that.

The fit isn's as good as I had hoped but I can hopefully add some polyfil
or if I can find an old seat to cut up ( I cant bring myself to cut the stock
foam.)

I went ahead and covered it with a T shirt material to see if I would beable
to mold the vinyl or have to pleat it I dont think any sewing will
be neccessary.

I need to put it on the bike to make the front contour I will probably have to
Add a piece of foam rolling the edge of the old foam will probably not
work as most of the tension when covering it will compress it too far to meet
the tank and look right.

I hope I can get all this done by the weekend I went
to the upholstery supplier in town and they are going out
of business and wont be back til friday

I cant bring myself to pay retail from an uphostery shop

Just got a phone call that I need to move my bike next week I better get my
butt busy hope to get the details wrapped up by this weekend so all
I have to do is put the sprocket and chain on

If I dont it will have to either be moved or sit outside for a weekend I wont
let it sit out for even a night

Today was a whirlwind. didnt get any real pictures to speak of got it back on the
ground made a hanger for the header and my brake resivoir, rewelded my tab for my
voltage regulator.

By shear luck my rearsets dont hit the header so I am on my way!
Sent my girl to get me some Allen head bolts and she came back with fine thread

Put the Header back on, It never pays to rush anything I snugged the header up
and SNAP! yep I broke a collar thank god I had the set I was gonna have chromed



had to remove the header and install a different collar

with everything in place I was able to get my shifter kinkage figured out

My seat mockup needs some serious tweeking, the uphostery shop is open tomorrow
so inbetween the bike and work I can get some vinyl and hopefully some foam
I really need another donor seat

snapped a couple pic's of everything in disarray but thats what keeps me motivated

well... that and this forum. Feel free to take a few shots at the following pic it
really looks like a piece of junk at this point

Thanks Les I really hope it comes together. I've got one major weld left. Gonna move my Kickstand up about 2 maybe 3 inches. I am almost out of time my borrowed welder almost went home monday.

i am really liking the back two thirds of the seat the front part isn't transitioning to the tank like i would like ,but !
it's not my bike right .
i was thinking if you could use the front third of the stock seat and the back two thirds of the seat that you have and glue em together to creat one seat foam .

i can't wait to see how you pull it together.your making good progress.

i should have your countershaft sprocket ready to ship back to you monday or tuesday.

i have seen the bike stands frame mount, moved forward before. it is a good solution.

I used a zrx seat and adapted it to the kz pan. the zrx foam is the same basic shape as the kz but not flat on the bottom. so u only need to modify the bottom of the zrx foam to make it flat. then i had an extra piese of vinyl added to the zrx skin, u can see it ,below the seem at the back of the seat.

LOL Thanks Leon Yeah I just cant bring myself to cut up the stock foam. a buddy gave me an old seatfoam I have to go bick up I hope I can use it to mold the front if not I will have to cut up the stock seat.

That is cool I cant wait to get it fired back up.

really dig your seat hope mine comes out half that nice.

Got my brake line yesterday so I reinstalled the right side rearset hooked the brake up
had to work for a while and my son turned 21 so didnt get much else done and my head
feel like a pumpkin today Not sure I can make the drive to town today
