I would PM 531blackbanshee (leon) or Les Holt. Last I talked to Les was a couple of months ago, he was still moving shops not sure if he can help yet.

Cognito moto do this kind of thing.

Maybe useful for those wanting something made

cognitomoto.com/products/copy-of-copy-of...rame-conversion-stem

I've not used them as they are in the US.

Great work 531blackbanshee

I apologize for bringing up an old post but it's a great read.

I have a question about how you locate the spot for the snap ring and how you go about installing it. If you have pictures that would be awesome.

Game changing work brother, glad you put it up for all to see

Thanks

everyone is a little different.but there all kinda the same if that makes any sense
most of the ones that use the snap ring is zx9's and i never take them apart.(but the stem pushes out the bottom and the snap ring registers on a counter bore thats machined into the lower triple.)
on the zx9 to kz conversion i cut the stem off with a port-a-band saw and then mill them flat.
leaving the zx stem in the lower triple to be used as the bushing,
then machine the id (sometimes it just needs honed)of the zx stem to be a press fit for the kz stem and tig weld it.

otherwise i press the stem out of the donor lower triple and machine the lower triple out with a counterbore,
then machine out a steel bushing to be a press fit match to it and press it onto the stem and tig it.
then press the whole lot into the donor lower triple.

then i address the donor upper by either machining the hole larger or machining and installing a bushing to reduce the hole to match the kz stem.

on 81 and later kz's that have the snap ring stem that presses out of the lower aluminum triple if i can i just machine the donor stem as the bushing and machine a counterbore to register the snap ring on and then cut the donor stem off mill it flat and press the kz stem in (from the bottom naturally)
here is boostables zx10 to 81 or later kz.
