First do not take what I posted as fact, rather what I could/can find and make sense of. I the past I would of suggested jets R us, or Sudco as locations for parts. Will say the Kawasaki part # for the O-6 needle jet is 16017-097

This site lists the part# as if they have them, but not sure if that is the case or not.

From what I can see the needle jet is somehow pressed into the main carb body , but it seems this might be a wear item in which you might need to remove and replace. I am afraid I am getting into a area that is beyond my knowledge.

You should be able to press them out from above. When I am rebuilding / cleaning a set of carbs I tend to pull them all apart and then decide upon which parts need to to be replaced and which just need a cleaning. It is then at that point that I will order what I think is needed. I do agree that some of the brass items can and do wear, but for the most part I have been able to reuse the parts as long as I keep all parts for each carb to themselves and not mix between them. In Mikuni talk they are a series 258 needle jet which in the past were offered in different sizes to work with different jet needles.

You might want to speak with members here who appear to have lots of carb parts, as they may well have what is needed or can point you to a location to look for them.

Use a round punch that fits INSIDE the jet.  Don't press on the thin edge, or you will bend it.

Borrowing Clay's photo...

Some jet holders use O-rings, and others don't.  Look for the space here.  If the threads go all the way up to the hex, no O-ring is needed.

As mentioned, those are the KZ1000A 1977 carbs, perfect! The 1977 was a split year, early and late. The 29901's were the early version often using the left-over holding bracket from the KZ900 and it's hardware. The 68 is the date code (6) 1976 and 8 August.

Joe, what the email contents referred to. That Y in the manufacture of these rotors, they detach. Very hard to detect visually from the facing view but more pronounced by a rear inspection. Gotta look really close!! If the weird noise is indeed coming from the stator housing, i've plenty of good stuff for spares but can't stuff those in a birthday card, ha.
Clay is this in the right thread ? (confused how we got from carbs to rotors !!!!)

I know Wookie, seemingly goofy, ha. I was emailing Joe about an issue he was having this morning concerning "noise" on his stator housing. So just attached some photos of those "common" rotor problems that are often overlooked and hard to detect riding his initial thread. Just ramblings but perfectly intentional, hehe.

Would you like me to move into a separate thread - just thinking it's great info and it may be easier for people to find in the future using the "search" function (perhaps "KZ900/1000 Rotor Noise")
