Yeah we are kinda stuck. No obvious damage to the cylinder walls. Lidl have a colour camera system with 2 cameras for automotive  on special this week. Its only 20 euros. Its kinda good So my mate bought it. We scoped the cylinders on air in exhaust out and the spark plugs . With nothing. Looked around the bottom again nothing. I am now thinking I am crazy honestly. We did find some very very fine particals in the oil filter that where a bit copper coloured

So anyone have a clue my friend is in thailand for 2 weeks so I wont be doing much till then .

I am almost at the stage of buying a new bike. The cost to repair the motor from a professional is like 3k here I can buy a good Kz for 1.5k so I have to decide.

What I see there is all normal to find in a KZ engine where that oil pan has not been removed and cleaned (oil sludge, metal/hard rubber flakes) The crap on the oil pump screen is most likely the clutch hub rubbers or the idler pulley rubbers flaking off.

How much play is in the clutch hub? On a "good" hub you should only be able to move it 1-2mm. I have seen bad ones move from pin to pin, about 10mm.

You can only access the rubbers by drilling out the rivets, this is NOT covered in the FSM.

Really? How good is it? Better the buggered beast you know than an unknown (potentially more buggered) beast in my opinion. FSM and be methodical.
