That looks like pretty solid advice, but his prices are really old.

If you get serious about building an engine, I strongly recommend contacting a reputable builder like Cavenaugh, APE, etc., and follow their recommendations to a T.

Or drive over to Indiana and visit Les Holt at PDM.
He can build you a motor with as much power as you want

Gonna need a fresh ground up built up motor with welded crank, 1075 wiseco's, ported head, bigger valves, fast road cams, bigger carbs, fresh HD camchain , manual tensioner and probably new idlers, dyna ignition, dyna coils and a decent 4-1 pipe.
Gonna cost more than a ZRX motor especially if you pay a shop for the work but with the motor swap it wouldn't be a real Z anymore.

It isn't going to be inexpensive, that's for sure. What does your bike budget look like? Ed

My engine budget is about 2500 to 3k right now. I was thinking I would just but the wiseco kit and that be it. Guess I was wrong, what cam specs and carb size do you guys recommend.

If you are asking about a ZRX swap, it has been done, but it is far from a bolt in job. For instance, you will need to fabricate new motor mounts, a custom exhaust system, brackets for the radiator and the overflow tank, as well as for the oil cooler. You will have to install the ZRX clutch lever and master cylinder assembly since the clutch is hydraulically actuated. There will be chain alignment issues and your tachometer will no longer work. You will also have to wire in the ZRX ignition system and regulator/rectifier. You will have to convert to individual pod filters that are small enough to clear the frame, the rejet the carbs. Et cetera.
