That's part of the reason Bossie sat for 15 years. I could have done it piece by piece but the kids were young and another bike wreck would have destroyed my little family. You'll know when the time is right. B)

Right you are Steve.

My wife has PTSD from this very thing years ago after being involved in a deadly crash.
We are still dealing with it every day.
Luckily she knows how much I love bikes and riding so is ok with it....made me get life insurance though. LOL

Thank you Steve, unfortunately I wrecked the bike a few weeks ago. ....

That was a gut punch for ME, can't imagine how it was for you. Sorry about that Jon.

How the hell did I miss this?, I followed the story of this fantastic build and somehow I just noticed that the bike (and you) were in an accident. Sorry to hear that, I hope you'll keep us posted with the rebuild. Under no circumstances give up riding, its obvious this was a accident not caused by stupidity.
First Permanent ride the Z1R since Dec1977 (220,000km) as of June 2015
Second permanent bike 1989 FJ1200 dyno'd 140RWH, great bike.
Third ride is now the Frankenstein 1981 GPZ1100B1, getting new/ refurbished 83-84 motor soon
Forth my work bike FJ1200 1989 (same type as above)

My wife also has anxiety about me riding. I've had to make some accommodation, but I still get to ride. Slowly, she gets a little less terrified with each passing year. I'm glad you are ok. High sides can turn out much worse. Hopefully, you can help your wife beat down that beast a little at a time.

My bike sat over a year after the wreck. I bought a 550 to see if I still had the nerve to ride again. Fun little bike but I missed the power. I had the bug again. It wasn't me going too fast, it was the driver in the truck that turned in front of me leaving no place to go. Be careful out there.

Phoenix

I got broad sided by a car and totaled my 76 Gold Wing about 20 years ago.

I got scraped up but luckily only that.

It was the same deal with a young family (5 daughters  ) I just stopped riding thinking that part of life was done.

Dragged a bike out of a barn 2 years ago and found I still needed to scratch that itch.

Just let time do its thing and keep the family strong and first.

Cheers

Casey

So it has been quite some time since I have been making posts, especially on my build thread. Thank you all for your kind and encouraging words. The damage done to the bike is all repairable. The custom drop triple will be installed with GSXR 1100 forks this time. I had to replace the tank. Unfortunately it is not a 77 tank as it was advertized. It has the rectangular fuel spigot? It is in good condition, I will have to remove all the rust and seal the inside. I also got the correct re-pop side panels. The tail piece it salvageable. Since I have to repaint everything I decided to step it up a notch and purchased the Diamond Sky Blue paint kit. I am going to stick with the silver pinstriping only this time I think I will add stripes to the front fender.
