Like any decent service provider, customer is Always Right. Does this fill the bill? Made to spec. Needle is already painted and "works" with this mechanism. They can vary BTW as far as fitment, too loose or too tight and won't go on. You "should" have the jewelers flat bladed reset knob removal option? They used this up to 1976, later ones just LH solid ones. ALL are LH removal BTW. Would of PM'ed you this info but im too stupid to know how..go figure..again. See, if You just lived down the street it would be easy, ha. Note how a bit foogy the pics are. Pulled the camera from air-conditioning to our sweltering humidity. Just wait..You'll be lounging it it too soon, hehe

Another consideration. I know You have a BUSY day today, cutting that cast off and all. I have a Stihl quickie saw, could whack that thing off in 2secs, ha. Look at your gauge lower can, inside. They produced 3 different styles. Early ones had NO bulb light diffusers, not shown. Next they had "bendable" plates then starting in around 1976 they were NOT bendable and much more rigid, note photo. Yours is that transitionary era where you could have either? Normally though, if it has the set screw for reset knob it'll have the second gen bendable light diffusers. Also..at this time they still utilized the extra metal strengthening angled strap as shown. Reason for all this is i'm sending the mechanism protecting it assembled in one of the two types shown. May not need it but a spare. Mechanism HAS to be removed to set the needle correctly or it'll rattle loose. First photo of Auckland shows the Moon is made of cheese, looks like sharp cheddar, hehe. Have a Whale of a Time at the doctors today!!

Took the path of self "executive" decision making and used the "bendable" style lower can. Thru some extras in the box too. It's 5 X5 X 4". Packed and ready for labeling/customs when the Wife gets back. Have a Great Day!
