Anodizing

Does anyone know of a Proficient Business doing Type 2 anodizing? I used to have a buddy that ran/owned an industrial coating facility here in the Kansas City metro area. Had him do several master cylinders over the years in that "black" original color. Problem was, i believe, because i didn't do them as one batch, just dropped them off as needed. Color/texture of finish varied..so, not consistent appearance. So that's what i need, consistently. I'm in the states so somewhere continental 48 state only.

Having recently experimented with anodising my self I think you may be chasing the "Holy Grail" with regards "consistency". I know I am a total novice but when I did the two halves of the rear calliper both halves went through every stage of the process together (time in the anodising tank, the dye tank and the sealing pot will all effect the end result) but even then there is a slight difference in the shade of grey for the two halves !!!!!!!

I noticed that "chemistry" lab in your build thread, Noble attempt for sure "my liege". Hail the likes of You Wookie and Ed, noted Nessium gave You a "Like", Better Life thru chemistry!! I tried the Eastwood plating "kit" years ago and just became despondent and never pursued it further. You cats see the precarious perils of heat/amperage/solution ratios, etc.  Perhaps just lazy, prefer to just have someone else deal with it, ha.

I differ, NOT CHEAP! Just a constantly curious sick twisted mindset, we all share that behavior, ha. Set-up expenditures say that!!

There's nothing "cheap" about buying all the equipment and chemical needed for plating work.  I suppose it would save money in the long run, though.  To me, the big advantage of having in-house capabilities, is that when you find that odd random part, that you forgot to send to the plater, you can just do it yourself.

You are right Ed, initial set up isn't cheap. The problem here is finding guys to do "small one off jobs" in a sensible turn around time. If I wanted a thousand no problem !! while I am still working full time I haven't got scope to go knocking doors to find supplier so have to rely on the internet - I struck gold with the blaster who is 1.5 miles away and works from his back yard so is flexible with drop off and collection (and as a bonus he's a really nice guy with fair prices) My last big project was 20 years ago (my Harris Magnum) and at that time my dear old dad was still with us and did all the running around for me
