yeah sorry I called it by the wrong name. I meant candy emerald. In any case I was SHOCKED they had the SAME exact thing!!!

Dan, all the b1 to b4 models had side panels painted the same colours as the tank originally so if yours are unpainted abs black plastic they must be replacements. So if your trying to get back to stock they should be painted. 

At the same time with the same batch or they will stand out. 

I'd leave it up to the painter to figure out how they want to go about the process.
A lot of times they develop their own system through trial and error especially with kandies.
All of the parts have to be sprayed at the same time as matching paint later on is almost impossible.

Which means touching up this paint job will be impossible if it gets damaged later on.
It will need a complete respray for the whole bike to match properly.

My panels are original and in great shape. I wont be repainting them.

On my KZ750 the side panels are WAY darker than the tank because of the way the Sun hit the bike while in the possession of the previous owner, who left it out a lot. I dont really mind the difference. The painter pulled a color very close to the tank, so Im hoping its not too far off from the panels original panels which do not need repainting. .

The painter sent me this shot. Pick up date has been moved to Monday.

I would remove the fuel cap or let it stay open full covered in tape. Paint and primer dust can clogged the vent.
Dont paint the fuel tank opening and fuel cap gasket surface or the E5/10 fuel will destroy the fresh paint like a paint stripper.
You need a small bare steel barrier where the fuel can vaporised before it get in contact with the fresh paint!

Thanks. Im out of the country (caribbean) from tomorrow morning until Monday afternoon so I wont see the painter until the tank is finished. I guess I will have to clean the vent if its clogged, when I get the tank back.

Spoke to the painter today. Though the final touches were mostly done yesterday, hes going to take the paint off the lip/lid as he always planned to do. I was going to get it today, but he adivsed to let the paint and clearcoat settle a bit,  let him clear the lip, and that I should pick it up Monday.

I cant wait. He did an AMAZING job!
