Front master cylinder
Yesterday 09:59
Will a stock 78 KZ 1000 master cylinder operate the 6 piston Tokico front brakes ? I have the ZRX master cylinder/lever which will make running the lines much easier but I don't know how I will match the clutch lever, if that makes sense. If I could just use the KZ master it wouldn't be a problem.

Re: Front master cylinder
Yesterday 11:10I doubt that the original will displace enough fluid for the Tokico's to have any kind of "feel" (I am using a ZRX unit but I have converted to hydraulic clutch so have a matching clutch master) Maybe you can find a clutch perch from a later model that better matches to the ZRX lever ??Will a stock 78 KZ 1000 master cylinder operate the 6 piston Tokico front brakes ? Check the bores of both M/C’s. If the Kz is for dual rotors then it should be 5/8”. IIRC, the Zrx is also 5/8”.

Some of the ZRX guys are running 14mm masters with the six pot calipers. It makes for a little more lever travel, but one-finger stoppies are possible.

P.S. I have a 14mm master cylinder on my ZRX, but I am using some Nissin 4-piston calipers. As I recall, thee Nissins have slightly more piston surface than the Tokicos.

Yesterday 15:24Wooden feel is one of the complaints some of the ZRX folk have about the stock 5/8 master cylinder!I doubt that the original will displace enough fluid for the Tokico's to have any kind of "feel" (I am using a ZRX unit but I have converted to hydraulic clutch so have a matching clutch master) Maybe you can find a clutch perch from a later model that better matches to the ZRX lever ??Will a stock 78 KZ 1000 master cylinder operate the 6 piston Tokico front brakes ? When you get ready to rebuild the calipers, use Hyabusa parts. The calipers and seals are identical, and the 'busa pistons are aluminum, so they are lighter and rust free. Suzuki sells seal kits for each caliper, while Kawasaki sells every single part separately. Suzuki sells the parts for a fraction of the price Kawasaki charges.
