Like I've always said, the hardest faults to find are the "man made" ones still a win is a winSOLVED
The eBay start button cluster I purchased "NEW" did not have this yellow lead coming off of it. With the known good cluster installed it turns over strong.
Thanks to ALL

I saw a picture of the bike that the harness came off of. Also the seller included everything from the coils to the horn cluster and it was all 1981 GPz. The 1982 harness and horn cluster is different.
I want to thank you for your help.
It kind of stunned me today that these bikes are 41 or so years old and so are the parts.
I feel your agro'. I was about to push this thing outside with a sign FIRST $200 TAKES IT right before it fired.

<<Looking for a new powder coat guy>>>
I've known him since we were 13-14 years old.
His wife had cancer. I really didn't want to drive out there and demand my frame be done NOW.

No need to give up on these things, following the test plans and guidance we gave you would have got you there - once you identified there was no feed at the solenoid we would have taken you back through the clutch switch to the starter button at which point the problem would of been found. These systems aren't complicated (if you understand electrics) so fault finding is always a logical process - it should only drive you crazy if you don't approach it in a logical wayI saw a picture of the bike that the harness came off of. Where did I say anything about badgering him to do the work? I clearly said I'd be looking for someone else.
Yes, his circumstances were unfortunate, but if he found himself unable to deliver on agreements then it would be appropriate for his clients to go elsewhere.
