I have a 1977 KZ1000 A1 that i am restoring and it has the original 7 inch sealed beam 35W halogen bulb in it. Wondering what my head light options are any recommendations or info would be helpful thanks.

If your 1977 Kawasaki had a halogen bulb in it the bulb was not original.  After trying numerous brands and wattages I use a Wagner halogen in my 1977 KZ650.  It's rated as 60w high beam / 35w low beam (see link below).  Ed

I upgrade my head light with an Highsider 3 LED head light insert.
Plug and Play, best you can get for "less" money

I also bought a Wagner H6024 a few months back (on Ed's recommendation). Brighter than what I had, great price and pretty much plug and play for my bike.

I'm sure Scirocco's LED is much brighter but I dont ride at night any more. Just looking for something to shine a few extra lumens at oncoming traffic and aid day time visibility

The original bulb in NA at least up until 1976 was a sealed beam Stanley with the marking 001-1014 on it.  European bikes used a Koito with removable bulb.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Nothing at all wrong with a good halogen headlight.  Does it say "DOT" or " MOTORCYCLE" on the lens?

The Wagner H6024 has "DOT" molded into the glass lens and also printed on the back of the lamp.  It is not motorcycle specific, but I have found that it works very well - much better than the stock incandescent lamp.  I used Sylvania halogen lamps a while back, but found they failed in about 1 year so that's not very good.  The Wagner lamps last well over 10 years in my KZ650.  Way back when I used a Marchal halogen motorcycle lamp.  It worked well, but the removable bulb burned out fairly quickly.  I replaced the original bulb with a 100w one - BIG mistake!  It was extremely bright which I loved, but over time it cooked the reflective surface inside the Marchal lens and cooked the bike's electrical connector.  Lesson learned.  Ed

Thank you to everyone! I have found what I needed, ended up getting the Wagner H6024 55w low beam should be plenty for my usage. Also I accidentally put halogen it was the original 50/35w Stanley.

Thanks for starting this thread. I was just starting to look for a bit of an upgrade to the oem light on my A1. I don't ride at night much, but we have lots of skittish elk on my road and no street lighting, so when I do, it'll be nice to have a bit more light.

I couldn't find a Wagner locally. but got the Phillips halogen equivalent last week (for $11). The ride home from volunteer fire practice tonight was excellent. A huge improvement over the Stanley incandescent.
