Applying power to the coils does not make them spark. Removing power from the coils makes them spark. The igniter gets a pulse from the pickups and the circuitry applies power to the coils, then removes power from the coils. That makes the spark.

In this case, applying power means to give the coils a ground. Removing power means removing the ground. That's what the igniter does.

So it sounds like my ignitor is bad?

The igniter has a ground wire (black-yellow) that's supposed to be grounded to the engine.

That depends on what coils you have. If the coil primaries measure less than 3 ohms, (or are supposed to measure less than 3 ohms) then you need different coils. Dyna S requires coils with minimum resistance of 3 ohms. The factory Kz coils which came with the electronic ignition were 2.3 ohms.

For instance, the Dyna green coil is supposed to measure 3 ohms resistance in its primary winding.

Can use resistance ohm measurement in the secondary winding to assure there's no break in the secondary loop circuit between the spark plug caps.

Example of a break in the secondary loop whereby neither spark plug will fire.

My coils are 3 ohms but I’ll double check just to be sure. How bad is it to put a dyna S in jt

So I retested them and they were 2.5 ohms. That isn’t enough for the dyna is jt?

So I got momentary spark. It’ll come and go unpredictably. When it comes it’s either a nice blue spark, or a orange spark or no spark. I wonder if it isn’t my pulser coil set up. It was rusty and we cleaned and we had spark but now we don’t. I’m wondering if my gal between the lobe and the pulser isn’t to far. What do you guys think

It looks like someone filed off the point of the rotor. There should be a little point lined up with the largest hole in the rotor slug.

It should look like this.
