Hey all, Just wondering about my key switch settings. The bike will only start turned fully to the right but no tailight is seen . In the middle all my lights work but the bike wont start . And ofcourse left does nothing. I bought this switch as a replacement from z1enterprises . Is there something I am missing because I definently need the lights on while at night , thanks

Do you still have the old switch? If so, using a multimeter set on contintuity, you should be able to electrically check the key positions on the old and new switch on the bench. I think you may have the wrong switch, or it's not wired correctly.

What ignition switch did you get? On some of them you may have to do some work to wire them up correctly.

The aftermarket switches don't work on the 750 twins. I bought the same one. They plug in but don't make the right connections. I ended up having to unsolder the wires and rewire it to make it work. I have never seen the correct switch for the 750 twin anywhere.

The wiring diagram shows how the ignition switch makes connections. I used that to re wire mine.

The one on the left is old and the one on the right is new. Old one doesnt work other than lights. New one has lights in the middle but wont run unless turned to the right .

It's been too many years. I know what I did was use my ohm meter to figure out which contact sets on the switch connected in the two on positions to know what contact sets were available (I think there was more than I needed). Then I soldered the wires in place to connect the right lines.

The power into the ignition switch comes in on the terminal labeled "batt" or battery. You have three feed out lines called TL1, TL2, TL3 and IGN.

In the ON (first) key position, the BATT has to connect to IGN and TL3. In that position, TL1 has to connect to TL2 (not to BATT).

In the second key position (PARK) the BATT has to connect to TL2.

You have to use an ohm meter to figure out what contacts connect to what in each key position. You will probably need to run a wire in from the BATT line to one pad on the switch and jumper it to two other pads. The feed lines to go to the other side of each contact set.

You need to find a contact set for the PARK position to connect BATT and TL2.
