Otakar,
Thanks a million! I have the diagram and the junction box schematic and have briefly compared it to what I have. It seems to be the one I need.

It could be likely that I have the harness and igniter for the 1983 ZX1100-A1. This diagram does not show any EFI details, but shows plugs A,B,C,D. Does this indicate that the EFI part can just be unplugged, which is most likely what was done here.

Thanks again

The EFI harness is a separate harness which plugs into the "four pin connector" "A" That is controlled by the ignition and feeds back the advance curves.

I just did some more research. In this particular system the IC Ignition provides all of the controls. This means that the system is not dependent on the EFI computer. You should be able to run the Ignition as is. Not until 85 was the system EFI feedback controlled. That will save some money.

Correct. There are some non-efi igniters that provide the spark timing electronically, and the boxes look like the one matchless showed in the photo.

That makes sense as I was wondering how the PO rode it at the time.
In actual fact it now seems that the wiring is not affected much, as the EFI part is just unplugged and as you have confirmed the 1983 igniter handles the advance.

Thanks for that very welcome information.

Hi lou,
I am the guy you helped to get the HEI units working on the Suzuki GS1000G a while back!
Thanks for your feedback on the igniter as well.
