What is the visible differences in the early VM28 carbs and the VM29? I almost sure both of them used the large screw on the carb bowls. So other than that how can I be sure I'm buying 29mm carbs and the similar 28mm carbs? Are there identifiable marking or numbers I should be looking for?

Thanks guys. It looks like I got the 29's. It has the insert in the bore and it has 1.5 stamped on the top of of the slides. I think this confirms it.

thanks again.

easiest way to tell is the 28's have 2 screws holding the lid on, while the 29's have 3 screws..and a 17mm nut on the bottom of the bowl.
