A friend owns a Suzuki 650 and his intake manifolds are a two piece affair, rubber bonded to aluminum. The rubber has separated from the aluminum, and he was asking me what he can use to bond them back together. He can't afford new ones. I thought a Permatex high heat gasket maker, or GE RTV106 (not sure where to buy that), what do you guys suggest?

Thanks,
Kent

I'd suggest looking for a tire shop that does retreading and offers permanent repairs for slightly damaged tires, as they'd be the best bet.
When repairing a damaged tire (holes, gouges, cuts) they don't just slap a patch on it, they actually "melt" new rubber to the damaged spot to perform the repair. It's called vulcanizing, and it works great!

A few years back I had just had a set of 33x12.5x15 BFG Mud terrain tires ($130 each!) installed on my truck before my friends and I went off-roading the next day.
2 hours into our little four-wheelin' adventure, and a sharp rock got ahold of the sidewall on one tire and left a 2" long slit in it. Needless to say I was bummed. :(
I had heard of a shop near me that did vulcanizing repairs and dropped it off with them, and $30 later it was good as new!
It never ever leaked, and I ran those tires until they were almost cheater slicks. :silly: :woohoo:

maybe try "seal all" its gas and oil proof. I plugged a 1/4 inch dia. hole in a dirt bike gas tank with the stuff before.

Kawasaki actually recommends using silicone sealer for small cracks in their manifolds. Would probably work on Suzukis too.

You know I assumed it would need a heat resistant adhesive, but I'm wondering if heat is even an issue on an intake manifold? I don't think so, as air/fuel forced thru a venturi has a cooling effect...
