I have a 1978 KZ1000A2A. I have to replace the drain plugs (screw) on the carbs. Does anybody know if they are specific sizes and have to be purchased at a Kawasaki dealer or if you could get them at a hardware store? Thanks.

You likely won't have much luck at the hardware but a metric specialty store can sell you some 6mm x .75 pitch bolts that can be used. The length will likely not be available and you will end up having to cut the bolts. Buy a .75 pitch metric 6mm nut. Thread the nut onto the bolt and cut. When you back the nut off, it will help clean the starting point where you made the cut. The .75 pitch isn't nearly as common as the normal 6mm x 1.0 pitch. Maryland Metrics will carry the bolts needed. You can also try bikebandit.com and see if they carry OEM drain screws... I think there isn't much unique about the drain screws other than the funky thread.
