Hi. in a kz 650 with two hoses from the petcock (I believe it is a 78)gas is leaking from the black hose that comes out from the bottom of the third carburattor (next to the big screw). I leave the petcock in the ON, facing down position, and it leaks, if I put it horizontal it leaks also.

it is not constant leaking. it "spits" a small mouthful of gas every so often (10/20 minutes or so). since I do not know what to do I just went and shoved a q-tip in the little hose to stop it wasting gas.

any ideas about what is causing the leak?
any ideas of what to do to fix it? thanks

that helps. now, if the needle is sticking,
how do I get it unstuck, free? it will be in the 100s in the garage today, so I am hoping for some easy fix, like spray some stuff. just kidding:P
thanks again

Remove that big screw and drain the bowl, then remove the bowl, then you may be able to spray carb cleaner around the float needle area and free it up.

I have noticed over the time I have been on this forum, that a few riders have this little problem on the 3rd carb on a 650. I had it after I rebuilt my carbs, and once in a while it still pops up. I wonder if it is a design problem, maybe the float is hanging up on the carb bowl somehow?

Any way, don't shove a q-tip anywhere. Take the handle of a screwdriver and tap the 3rd bowl a few times to free it up, if you don't get around to cleaning it today.

hi. I removed the bottom screw and it was like a jet with a hole inside, that was clogged. I cleaned that up and sprayed carburator cleaner. do you think that clog can cause an overflow? maybe the hot weather? thank you bothB)

thats just a hole for the drain plug the float bowl is covering the float needle you need to clean you have to remove the 4 screws that hold the bowl on and clean the needle valve attached to the float
