I completely misunderstood / mis-visualized in my mind's eye the barb you intended to use, thinking you intended to cut threads in an OEM barb removed from another petcock. Overthinking it in other words. I was wrong.
That barb possesses very adequate strength. and should work fine as-is. Please keep everyone posted re: the outcome.

Sorry guys it took me a while to get you an update.
So the threading of a 1/8”NPT barb into the petcock went super well. Nice tight fit and with a little bit of yellow Teflon tape, I had no leak.
However I’m always worried with vacuum petcock so I also put a an inline shutoff valve.
Here are a few pics.

I had that exact petcock. What was supposed to go there was an L bend aluminum barb with an o-ring. I know this because my original petcock was trash but I kept the L bend.

Interesting. A straight barb allowed for the fuel line to have a filter and/or and additional valve.
I'm curious, how was the aluminum elbow was put into the petcock? Just forced-in with an o-ring?
And what did you end up replacing the original petcock with?

Yeah press fit with the O-ring if I'm remembering correctly. Replaced it with the Suzuki petcock Z1 sells because the original was trash

I had the Suzuki petcock from Z1 (still do). It worked well, except that the barb was pointing toward the back and the fuel line was either kinked or had to go awkwardly under the seat.

I guess I could do that with the Suzuki petcock yes. But for now the modified petcock that I came up with works great. No kinks, and now I have space for a fuel filter.
But i don't want to talk to soon. Maybe in a few months I'll be back to the old petcock or I will simply give up on vacuum petcocks altogether!
