Just could not let our recent Spring-like West Michigan weather pass by without getting out for a couple short rides.
It was a great opportunity to focus on tuning the carbs, and to finally give my Gunson Color Tune a go.
70 miles on fresh top-end.

20 Feb 2026 05:25 - 20 Feb 2026 05:34I'll second that! At one point I owned three HawkGT's. Sold the last one about 13 years ago.I loved the NT650!! Soo nimble and lite.
And, daveo, glad that you were able to get out, as least for a few quick blasts, on that superclean KZ - looks great!

20 Feb 2026 05:36Not a problem, Wookie. Tried uploading that pic several times, but didn't have any luck. Not sure what might be going on.....

Still loving the air box/velocity stack setup. Ten years on!

Re: Fresh Start Pilot Jet Size
17 Mar 2026 20:49 - 17 Mar 2026 22:20The Mikuni KRS-004 stacks are 3.14" or 80mm overall, which is similar to the Kaw. KZ1100A rubber air boot length, btw.How long are your stacks?
These stacks are easily removed (in pairs with filter attached) through the air box intake opening, as there is insufficient clearance on the engine side.
