In the "Filebase" here on KZR, you will find the factory 440 service manual for your bike, available for free download.  Inside the manual, you will learn that the 440 came with Keihin CV36 carburetors.

These carbs are very similar to the CV34's that were used on many different model 750 bikes.  All the O-rings are the same (I have a kit).

Please do NOT attempt to rebuild these carbs by buying some cheap junk china "carb kits".  The proper play is to take the carbs apart, clean everything, reuse all the brass jets, and replace the O-rings.  It's cheaper that way also.

I am not the one to talk about the 400/440 machines. There are several here that know them well/ So I do not have a set up for you. But I do have a question. When you say the carbs are not marked like the manual, what do you mean,?

You need the following O-rings...

#71 (qty 2)
#37 (qty 2)
#45 (qty 2)
#68 (qty 2)
#49 (qty 2)

During the rebuild, be sure to remove #48 pilot jets and #46 bleed pipes, and use a small wire through them to make sure the tiny holes are open.

The Kawasaki manual says the carbs are marked as what model number they are like cv34 or cv36 I just don't see that on either of my carbs.

This is true of nearly all the carbs of that era, even the ones installed at the factory. The model and size will not be stamped on them. The only way to know for sure is to educate yourself on the sometimes very subtle differences, or depend on guidance from somebody who has already done that.

Leaking float needles, maybe.  Keihin uses a rubber tip, which can get worn.  Real deal Keihin parts are best, but expensive.  Keyster are second best.  Most others are junk.  Also, as always, check fuel level using the clear tube method as described in the factory manual.

For OEM parts, I like Part Shark or Partzilla.  Another option, your local Kawasaki dealership.
