Carb ID help

11 Jul 2025 13:14
#914576
Assembling what I believe are VM26SS carbs that have numbers/letters on engine side flange
Z12
OO on one side
R
5X
on the other
it has a 5DL31 needle, 1.5 slide all other jets aren’t there.
Do these markings narrow down what they might have come off? TIA

Those carbs are from the last version 900.  1977, I think.  Those sets commonly had a joining bar across the top caps.

I believe the part number is 16014-1004

Click on the Diagrams tab to see what other models use that screw.

Mvent, yes the air screws are Brass not Zinc. Also the choke plungers will be brass colored not chromed-over brass, they stopped coating those in the 1975 Z1. Although they will fit fine. If you run into a pickle let me know i;ve plenty of them.

Forgot to mention. Yes they did have a Steel air adjust screw but it had a different part number 16014-017 and was generally used on the later model VM's.

See, You have as shown the, 16014-017 (steel version). Those "original" Z1200's didn't come that type of material, only brass. The 16014-1004 is the brass version equivalent. I can't speculate to the taper differences though? Perhaps the casting hole is different where the taper resides? Too big, spring would coil bind. Too small, spec settings would be different and screw would not be screwed in as much. You could do a vacuum test to verify flow differences? Or maybe that's not available to you?

I was going through some nuts bolts etc. I’ve thrown in a bin today and lo and behold there it was ! Now just need the spring for it and one fuel tee, unrack them and give them an ultra sound bath.
