What size/brand/model ultrasonic for entire bank of 4 carbs?

Has anyone used a 15 or 20 liter ultrasonic cleaner? Which brand/model is wide enough to do a set of 4 cyl carbs?

There's no need for a tank large enough to accept a complete bank.
The carbs should totally stripped of every component and these cleaned individually.
Ultrasonically cleaning a fully assembled carb results in microscopic wear of mating parts and threads etc which can affect their performance and even turn them to junk.
A 6 litre tank is sufficient for cleaning one or two carb bodies at a time and when the first batch is done the other/s can go in whilst the first one/s are getting blown out and assembled..

for a smaller unit. 6 liter. my son uses a Seeutek PS-30A. he's had it for a number of years. currently being used on his Celica GT4 project. I'd say he's been very pleased with it.

Physical size of the rack will dictate tank dimensions, not volume capacity.

To answer the specific question:
We've used a SharperTEK XPS-120 heated tank for years.  It's run perfectly for many, many hours.  Won't hold a full 4-carb rack, but we'd never do that anyway.
They have scratch & dent units periodically for less $$ that carry full warranty.
www.sharpertek.com/tale7to24.html

We use one of those old coffee cup immersion heaters to speed heating of the cleaning solution on a cold start.  Then let the internal heater maintain set temp.

Their shellac and varnish buster works as well as the sorely-missed / discontinued Yamaha Carb Cleaner Dip of yore.  It just takes a little more agitation time.

Get a basket regardless of brand / capacity to keep the workpiece off the tank's inner surfaces.

If cleaning very small parts, such as screws, small jets, tiny C-clips, a ~2 inch stainless mesh tea ball will keep items together, so you don't have to fish the bottom of the tank for them when loose in murky, opaque cleaning solution.

Not to mention that 20ltrs of cleaning solution will run you around $100

<<<Ultrasonically cleaning a fully assembled carb results in microscopic wear of mating parts and threads etc which can affect their performance and even turn them to junk.>>

That statement is mostly false or at least highly exaggerated. Here's the truth:Ultrasonic cleaning, when done properly, does not cause meaningful wear to carburetor parts, even when assembled.

Citation?

Cavitation erosion is a thing.  Affects workpieces, tanks and immersed transducers.  Widely documented.  Whether a workpiece is assembled or disassembled is irrelevant.  An enormous amount of data is available, both shallow and deep.  Examples:

I use carb dip, followed by the ultrasonic for final cleaning.  Once you have all the internal parts removed, it's just a few more screws to ungang the set, so why not?  Not to mention, parts like the choke plungers can't be removed with the carbs ganged together anyway.

Regarding an ultrasonic causing damage, I've often wondered about this.  The garage test for ultrasonics, putting a piece of aluminum foil in the tank, causes holes through the foil in short order.  Wouldn't the part surfaces be likewise affected?

Edit: found this...  crest-ultrasonics.com/using-an-ultrasoni...-for-aluminum-parts/

Bottom line: special cleaner for aluminum should be used, a high frequency, and time limited.  And regarding time, how long does it take, if even possible, to clean the internal carb passages with an ultrasonic?  I'd rather use carb dip, that way I know the inner passages are properly clean.

I also use a SharperTech unit along with their cleaner. When you fill the tank with new water and chemical you should use the de-gas cycle to expel air from the solution before inserting parts. I believe this reduces the size and amount of bubbles. My unit has this cycle but not sure if others do.

The better units have degas.  My Branson does, but my other ultrasonic, a china cheepie, doesn't.  And speaking of the china unit, it burned up the ultrasonic generator PCB, and one of the vibration transducers fell off.  That may have caused the unit to burn up.  I've read, but don't know for a fact, that the transducers must be affixed, or board damage can occur.  A friend fixed the PCB and I glued the transducer back on, but this unit is just plain weak.

What parts of a motorcycle carb are as thin as aluminum foil?
