When I worked in VW retailers the normal method of stock control was to "write down" the value of the part on stock after 12 months 50% - after 18 months 75% and after 2 years it went in the bin regardless of what it was or the age of the vehicle it related to. It was the only way to control stock levels (these days a lot of parts dept's use the "junior" to list obsolete stock on Ebay rather than bin it unless it has a shelf life)

I have ran across this theme too Wookie, if im understanding your Math direction. Persons/dealerships that do hold their products seek, and look for prevailing "need" and going prices. As a norm, Kawasaki can't sell anything above list price at the latest announcement. But once it falls outside the mandate, they become just another Vendor.
