No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationHello, im a kawasaki passionate from Romania and i ve bought a 1984 Kawasaki KZ 400J. The problem is that the carburator needs to be changed because somebody used a strong chemical to clean it, so now the metal is disintegrating. But fortune seems to be on my side, because i found some complete carburators on Ebay, but they are for the KZ550 LTD 1980 or KZ550B1. So this is my question : what carburators fit my Kawasaki KZ 400J ? Are the KZ550 LTD 1980 or KZ550B1 any good ? Cause they do look identical to me, i just have to make sure, and i m certanlly not a master concerning these matters.
If you read this, tank you for your patience.

This are the ads i found on ebay :

I don't know if your 1984 KZ400-J uses the same carbs, but according to the Kawasaki Service Manual the 1981 KZ400-J2 came with TK K21P-2A carbs and the German model came with TK K21P-2B carbs. Ed

You shouldn't have much of a problem getting the 550 carbs to work on the 400.
They are basically the same engine with a slight bore and stroke.
The carbs are the same spacing and will drop straight on.
You may have to drop on the main jet slightly but they shouldn't be far off on the 550 settings.

Yes. Should be very easy as long as it does not have to pass emissions tests.

Here is a link to some info about the Tk22 and Tk21 carbs.

Found these in Portugal if you are interested. These came out of a KZ400J. Not sure of the year.
