Been struggling with the carb on my friends '82 250 CSR.
Another friend stopped by and checked it out. It backfired while he tried to start it. So he removed the air box and reached into the carb. He said the carb was shot. "Too much play". He pulled the carb and opened it up. The slide was really sloppy and could easily be wiggled around inside the body.
So "we" quickly rebuilt the spare parts carb. It had a tight (like a Tiger) fitting slide. Put it on the bike and of course it fired right up.
I never heard of a slide and body wearing out like that. But then again that's why I live in the "chat forum". Just thought I'd pass this on, for what it's worth....
