ok, i went out today and got everything legal on my bike!
got to the local shell gas-station to fill her-up,and i started her up and she ideled for about 20 secs and died! i couldn't get it started agian, so i got the trailer and brought her home!
i know she was leaking gas from the over-flow hose and
i did forget to shut petcok off
does any-one know the stock setting for my carb (pic below)
my bike is all stock and 1977 kz650 b-1
i havent done any mods, so i belive its all original from what i see!

What makes you think the reason it died was due to the carbs?

Those carbs look to have been left unmolested for a long time. If it started and died after sitting a long time plus the overflows were working, I'd have to guess your problem is electrical and not fuel. To verify, pull the plugs and look at them for fuel fouling (rich)or starvation (lean). Clean or replace them and try again. If it won't start pull a plug to see what is going on there, my bet is it will be wet with gas from no spark.

and i just want to know what setting are for my carbs??

Steve? What the heck do you mean settings for your carburetors? Those are VM24 carbs; can't tell if they are accelerator pump or non-pump from the pic. They are from the late 70s... no air screws which means pilot fuel mixture screws.

OK... you got the bike to idle for a few minutes at a gas station. Did you ride it there and then it quit? If so, may just be a tuning issue. Have you checked valve clearances? Done an ignition tune up and checked coil voltages? Last thing I can think of may be obstruction to the carbs. Lots of old tanks are rusty... do you have a fuel filter? The petcock screen may be clogged...

There really are too many unknowns to be of much help... more info would help.

i just wanted to know the stock setting for my pilot screw. they are VM24s w/out accel pump (1.5 turns out ect..)or? it seems to run rich.
i also want to know stock setting for my needle clip!(1-5 lower the neddle the richer it runs? or?)
yes i rode the bike to the station , and filled it up then she wouldnt start agian.
i rode around for about 1 hour before gassing it up, and had no problems!
i cheaked ignition and voltage. but i dont have a way to check vavles clerances, ill have to get some smaller gauges (weres a good place)
it ran great and idled good.

thanks all! p.s i do have a small (thing) that hooks in below the carbs right to the block, is this a accel pump? its not hooked to carbs just engine block
