I have just purchased a 550ltd as my first bike and it desperately needs a carb rebuild. I had a guy work on my bike and put pod air filters on. He rejetted the bike and it runs fine at high rpm, but not at low rpm. The bike also spits out gas from the vaccum lines. He says that it's the float needle but I am starting to wonder. Can someone give me advise on the leaking gas and about rebuilding the carbs? How hard is it and about how long to rebuild?

Hello: Welcome aboard.
Does the fellow who re-jetted your carbs and installed pods stand behind his work or does he dodge responsibility for your trouble? I don't know the timeline or your relationship with this person, but they ought to make it right for you whether it's a shop or a private individual.

Before anyone else mentions it, put your location and bike model/year in your sig, somone might be close to you and be able to lend a hand.

is the gas comming out the vaccum lines or the overflow tubes on the bottoms of the carbs?
Chris
