How many turns on an air screw as standard

this may be a silly question but ive not managed to buy a service manual for my bike as yet but whats the stock amount of turns for the air screw on a KZ1000 A2?
Mine is running bad down low when cold so ive been checking the air screw and they are only one full turn out from all way in?
I thought it would be more than that.
It's a stock bike as far as i know but does have after market pipes on.
Standard jets (105 and 15)
Plugs look ok though see pic

I have a kz1000b With the Mikuni pumper carbs, and mine was 1.5 turns out. So keep in mind mine has extra fuel pumping in with accelerator pumps. I would back em out another half turn, change the plugs so you get a fresh read, run it see how she goes. That service manuel should explain plug texture and what each color represents. You want nice white tips on em :cheer: If you running stock intake 1.5 should be more than fine. Im running velocity stacks so i need to retune mine but if you got stock intake i think 1.5 should be more than fine.

Yours look like this?

With the pilot screw #31 on the bottom? If so then it will be a fuel screw, so turning out will increase the amount of fuel to the Idle drilling. How many turns out will depend on several factors, but start the bike and warm it fully, take it for a ride. Then try setting them. Turn them in till the cylinder loses RPM, then back out to recover the loss, and and additional 1/8 turn. Try that and see how it runs on a ride, if it stumbles when you crack open the throttle, try another 1/8 open, and ride again. You'll get it.

The one turn out is a default preliminary setting to be followed by fine tuning at idle rpm.
Final setting will likely be slightly different in each carb.
Don't be a slave to the 1/8 limit.

Good Fortune! :)
