1983 kz550 LTD carb issues

So this bike wasn't running when I bought it, I cleaned the carbs and jets rein installed them, then the bike sprang to life. It really didn't idle right, it would idle at about 6k and be very sporadic, lacked power as well. It also would cut out when I gave it a lot of throttle Couldn't figure it out so I just went on with normal maintenance, spark-plugs, oil, etc.

I finally realized that two of my cylinders were not firing because the exhaust was cold on that one side, and hot on the other. I sprayed some starter fluid in the carbs on the non-firing side and the idling came down to 2k and it has a little more power now.

My current problem is the side that wasn't firing seems to fire now, but the 2 carbs still leak gas out of the drains when running and after being shut off. Also, on the same side, the exhaust warms up and gets hot, but no where near as hot as the other side that has been firing since the beginning.

Other info, its the TK-22 carbs; when revving if I hold it at 6k it will sometimes jump around to 5k or 7k and in between; it backfires when I shut the bike off; theres a popping when I let off the throttle, and sometimes when I'm revving it. I'm looking at the floats on the "funky" carbs now and they seem to move freely. What should I be looking for?
