BS34 1985 GPz 750 Mildly ported Need Jetting Ideas

Hello! First post here for me, so here goes. I have a 1985 GPz/ZX750 A3 that came with a set of BS34's. Top end of the engine has been torn down, inspected, honed, new OEM rings, stock pistons. Thsi is where it gets crafty: The head has been ported for street use, combustion chambers blended and semi-mirror finished, .006 removed from head surface. Stock valves, stock GPz cams. I destroyed the original airbox, but have another one in the mail. I need reccomendations on jetting for these carburetors. I do not want to fire this thing up and wash my cylinders down, and I do not want to burn it down from being too lean. Current jetting is 110/37.5.

My biggest concern is break-in. Am I safe to break in the engine with current jetting?

Thats the same jetting I run on my 82 GPZ750 that has ported heads on it from the factory & an old 4-1 RC header on it & 16,000 miles. Whether the later ones have the same heads I dont know but I do know they {later ones} have slightly hotter cams in it. It may not be spot on but I sure wouldnt worry about it breaking it in with that jetting. maybe uncover the mixture screws abd back them out a half turn is all. My opinion only, others may vary

Thanks! I have uncovered the mixture screws, I will work with them and break it in, then see what the plugs have to tell. Just a heads up to anyone ordering from Dynoman.........Vesrah gasket kits are being ordered on a demand basis, they had to order mine from the factory. Not a big deal as i have more time to clean and prepare, just mildly frustrating!

Thanks! I am also running the Kerker 4 into 1. Did you work your way up to the 118's from 110's?

I'll give the 118's a try once I'm confident the cylinders are sealed. Unfortunately I will not know how well my build is until tomorrow when I assemble the top end. Apparently my 24 hr shift is more important than the bike to my employer (US Army).

PS: That is a CLEAN bike you have! I like!

thanks, i just had my carbs rebuilt a few weeks ago and they have been working great. they worked great when i bought my bike but i started to have some problems a few months ago. the old owner had put the wrong type of pilot jets in the carbs so when i had them rebuilt the builder rick replaced them for the correct ones.

www.jockeyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64769 Once again Ill post this. A 118 Dynojet jet = a Mikuni 110.6. In other words you both have the same jetting. All you need is the adjustable needle and mine runs just fine with the factory needle in it
