Need help working on some carbs.

I have A 1980 Kz550 c1 with a 4 to 1 exhaust. I need to know what kind of carbs I have and what size of jets I need to go up to so I can stop the popping and crackling on my deceleration. If anyone can help me I 'd really appreciate it.

well if its stock u can look that up online to see what it came out with from the factory, but the possibility exists that some may have changed them, I would guess VM 24's but again thats a guess

I doubt ur pop and crack are jets but .... start with a good cleaning, search for threads on this as there are many, vacuum leaks, exhaust leaks, air screw adjustment are other possible culprits

You should have TK-22. Sould be the same as my 1980 kz550 a1. Stock jets were 92/32 if my memory is right. I had a lot of decel popping so I removed the Smog System.

Just search decel popping and you see pictures for how to remove the smog system. You just have to make sure everything is air tight.

I went up to 95 for the main jets, but I have pods too. It should be about right for you though.

For the dog system just remove the tank, remove the smog system. The long hose can be measured and cut to fit across both front ports to connect them using the original spring clamps. Then you must plug or cap the small ports on the carb boots where the small vacuum lines were. Then tape or cover the hole in the air box. I would add pic but I can't figure out how on my ipad.

i have everything blocked off because the bike came with pods. I'm am about to fix the float needle on the far right carb because it's leaking gas. So since i have to take everything apart anyways i might change the jets while i'm in there.

If pilot circuits are as-new clean, slight enrichment of the pilot circuit may eliminate popping on deceleration.
Which may be accomplished by turning each pilot air screw IN clockwise by say 1/4~1/2 turn, and test run for effect.
May not require larger pilot jets than now installed, and retain higher fuel mileage afforded by smaller pilot jets.

Good Fortune! :)
