wet float level for 900
10 Feb 2012 19:25
Has anybody rigged up a way to do the hose float heighth test for a 74 900 kaw? I have the one with the big plug in the middle you have to put a 17mm wrench on. They are real fine threads.

Which carbs do you have? If it's the 28's I might be able to hook you up.

I think it is the 28. How can I tell for sure?

If speaking of the clear tube test, would probably be same as on smoothbores.
A short length of whatever size rubber fuel line (maybe 3/8") that fits snugly inside the hole, with the clear line beginning from inside the larger section.
I use a cone shaped rubber grommet held inside the hole.
Slight leakage won't invalidate the test.
Good Fortune!

Z1E lists the 17mm plug screw for 29 smoothbore et al, but doesn't mention the early Z1 carbs. So guessing threads are different.
17mm plug for smoothbores
If a spare plug is available, it could be drilled for a barb insert to fit the clear tube.

The 17 mm I was talking about is the wrench size to screw the plug out. That hole in the bowl is about 5/8''. I will see if I can find a tapered rubber. The only problem is that jet is right there at the hole. It would be great if I could find a spare plug. Then like you said drill and tape a fitting in it. Are there anybody with a spare plug out there?
